COPYRIGHT FIREFLY HOT AIR BALLOON TEAM 2008
27 June 2009
CREW: Jon & Kathy Francis, Wayne & Adam Bundy, Margaret Parker and Richard Cardy
We were invited to do a tether at Halterworth Primary School (Romsey), and on the day, unbelievably conditions were perfect – a warm sunny day with very little wind or gusts. Having said that, after inflation the wind direction swung almost exactly 180 degrees. This placed us in a very difficult situation. If we deflated and moved all the vehicles around, what if the wind changed direction again, what would happen? We decided to continue as we were and monitor the wind speed very closely.
Luck was with us and no problems were encountered, during the length of time we tethered we took up 114 children/adults and made £112 for the school funds. We actually tethered for one and half hours and Wayne did most of it. Kerrie and Jacky came along to give moral support and everyone enjoyed themselves.
