About us

We are a group of ballooning enthusiasts that originated in the Dibden Purleiu area of Hampshire about 10 years ago. We don't hold any regular meetings ourself, but other local balloonists meet on the first Wednesday of each month at a pub called the 'Wheatsheaf' at Braishfield near Romsey. Most of our group go along for the night out to swap 'tall' stories, and generally keep in touch. The social side of ballooning is all part of the enjoyment and unless you've experienced it, it's difficult to describe the friendly atmosphere which exists between all balloonists.

From our point of view and due to the fact that we all work, most of our flying is done at weekends. The drill which has been adopted is that I keep an eye on the weather and if it looks good, I call the group to see who is available for a flight.

We offer all members of our group full 'hands on' training on all aspects of ballooning right from the start, ranging from Ground Crew to Flying the balloon.
